One of the coolest things about the Land Rover Defender is its legacy of limited editions. Over the years, it’s had some truly iconic special runs; like the 90SV, the legendary Tomb Raider edition in 2000, and then right at the end of production in 2016, we got the Heritage, Adventure, and Autobiography models. Each one marks a unique chapter in Defender history — and they’re all very collectible.
Back in 1998, to celebrate 50 years of Land Rover, they released this — one of just 1,071 special edition 50th anniversary Defenders. 385 stayed in the UK, the rest went to Japan, Europe, and the Middle East. This one, taken in part exchange against a UK custom build, is now ours. It’s number 129, and it’s a real gem.
Largely original, low-mileage, and enhanced with a light restoration and tasteful upgrades, this 50th Anniversary Defender is truly one to treasure, and we’re proud to call ourselves its new custodians. Watch the video below for the full story, and stay tuned as we continue to refine and elevate this iconic build.
