Under the skin: Arkonik Body Shop

True quality isn’t just found in the shine of the finished paintwork, it’s in everything that sits beneath it. At Arkonik, our body shop philosophy is built around the belief that perfection starts long before the final coat is applied. Countless hours are spent in preparation, refining and reworking until every panel sits in perfect harmony, celebrating and preserving the iconic Land Rover silhouette exactly as it deserves.

Perfectly Aligned

We’ve invested heavily in bespoke tooling that allows us to manufacture our own bulkheads and roofs. New body panels are then assembled and painstakingly aligned, delivering a finish that not only meets factory standards, but surpasses them.

And even brand-new panels aren’t considered good enough straight out of the box. Every panel is stripped back to bare metal, meticulously prepared, primed, baked and inspected, before the entire process is repeated. This approach allows us to dramatically improve corrosion protection and water resistance across the whole vehicle, from bumper to bumper. Only once everything passes rigorous inspection does it move forward to the final stages of painting.

Did you know?

One of the many details that truly sets Arkonik apart is our treatment of the rear body panels. We are the only company to remove the original spot welds entirely, sanding and filling them to create an ultra-smooth surface. The result is a flawless foundation for our signature glass-like paint finish

That same uncompromising attention extends to components others might overlook, including the humble door hinge. From factory, hinges are pitted and uneven. At Arkonik, they’re treated with the same care as our panels, stripped back to bare metal and refinished to achieve a perfectly smooth result

Throughout our vehicles, we also fit our own bespoke gaskets wherever aluminium meets steel. This critical detail helps prevent galvanic corrosion, an area frequently ignored in restorations, but one we consider essential to long-term durability and quality.

It’s this relentless focus on the unseen details that defines an Arkonik build, and ensures every vehicle looks as exceptional years down the line as it does on the day it leaves our workshop.

Meet the team

Jack, our Head of Department, has been with Arkonik for over 12 years. In that time, he’s driven countless improvements across the bodyshop, constantly refining the process and raising the bar.

For Jack, this role goes far beyond a job, it’s a craft and a passion. That pride shows in every panel that leaves his workshop. He understands that our clients expect nothing short of the highest standards, and he makes sure that commitment is reflected not only in his own work, but across his entire team.

“What sets us apart is how we’re always pushing what’s possible, improving, learning, and never settling. Seeing the finished vehicle makes all the hard work worthwhile and gives us real pride as a team. My favourite Arkonik build is the Artemis 110 edition… although I’m still waiting for a client brave enough to spec Merlin Purple pearl paint one day!

Away from the workshop, Jack is a devoted family man who enjoys spending time with his partner and young daughter. When he’s off the tools, you’ll likely find him watching movies, gaming, or playing darts.

Calum has been a key part of our bodyshop team for over four years. As a Bodyshop Technician, he understands that preserving heritage demands precision craftsmanship, and he plays a vital role in ensuring every vehicle leaves Arkonik HQ stronger, straighter, and better than when it first rolled off the line.

“I take pride in restoring each vehicle to a standard that exceeds expectations while still honouring its legacy. Every one has a story. I love bringing these Land Rovers back to life and giving them a new character. It’s hard to choose a favourite, but the Kraken 110 edition in Phoenix Orange definitely stands out.

Like many of the team, Calum is a true petrolhead. He’s spent countless hours restoring and tuning his own car, hands-on experience that sharpens his eye for detail and fuels his instinct to always go the extra mile. Away from the workshop, his other passions include his two Cocker Spaniel cross Labradors, Quattro and Mabel, and hitting the local trails on his mountain bike.
